The traditional wedding of Karthika Das and Bhagath Meleveettil proves again that millennials still prefer to stick to their roots.
Karthika and Bhagath, who are based in the Middle East, had a love cum arranged marriage. With the families’ blessings, they got engaged in a private ceremony attended only by family and close friends held in Dubai in April 2016.
For the function, Karthika wore a pretty Arabic lehenga which she purchased at a fashion expo held in Dubai. Bhagath also looked handsome in a sherwani which was also bought from the same fair.
Even though they had a traditional South Indian wedding, Karthika and Bhagath also incorporated a couple of wedding customs from the north such as mehndi and sangeet ceremonies into their wedding.
For the mehndi function on the 19th of August Karthika wore a stunning floral anarkali/gown from Coimbatore and at her sangeet on August 20 she looked pretty in a beautiful lehenga she bought from Dubai.
The couple tied the knot in a traditional way on August 21 at the Peruvanam Temple in their native town Thrissur.
For the 'thalikettu' at the temple, the bride wore a beautiful set mundu from Kasavukada with contrasting blouse and she completed her look with minimal heirloom jewelry. While she looked pretty in the traditional wear the groom too complimented her by turning up in a traditional kasavu mundu along with a melmundu.
For the later part of the wedding ceremony, which was held at the Kausthubham Auditorium near the famous Thiruvambady Temple, the bride wore a beautiful Kancheepuram saree in a light orange shade which was purchased from Pothys, Coimbatore.
Karthika accessorised her Kancheepuram saree with traditional ornaments from Krishna Jewellery in Thrissur. For the ceremony, Bhagath also wore a matching kurta and kasavu mundu.
The beautiful moments of the wedding were captured by Nias Marikar Photography.
