What our calculators do
Our seven calculators — budget, savings, food, alcohol, venue size, guest stay and invitations — turn a few inputs into a realistic planning number. They run entirely in your browser, need no login and do not store what you enter.
Assumption sets
Each calculator uses a published assumption set: the base values and factors it multiplies together. For example, the budget calculator starts from a base cost per guest, then applies a city factor (Delhi NCR is higher than the national base), a duration factor for the number of days, a style factor, a catering factor and a weight for each function you select. It then splits the total across twelve categories — catering, venue, décor, photography, outfits, jewellery, entertainment, makeup, transport, invitations, gifts and rituals — and adds a contingency.
Every assumption set carries a version note and a date, so you know how current it is. We review them at least twice a year against vendor quotes, venue rate cards and reports from couples.
Rounding rules
- Money totals above ₹10,000 are rounded to the nearest ₹100; smaller amounts to the nearest ₹10.
- Countable units — plates, bottles, rooms, cards, chairs — are always rounded up, because running short is worse than a small surplus.
- Ranges show a band around the central estimate to reflect normal variation between vendors.
- Money is shown in rupees with Indian digit grouping (lakh and crore).
What an estimate is — and is not
A calculator result is a planning estimate, not a quotation. Real prices depend on your date, the vendor, negotiation, taxes and what exactly is included. Use our numbers to set a budget, compare options and check whether a quote is reasonable, then confirm final prices with vendors in writing.
Known limits
- City factors are averages; prices vary widely within a city.
- Peak muhurat dates can cost 20–30% more than our central estimates.
- Taxes are included in category totals as typical rates, but your vendor’s billing may differ.
- Quantities assume typical Indian wedding consumption; your guests may eat or drink more or less.
Reporting a problem
If a result looks wrong for your city or situation, please tell us through the contact page. Reader reports are one of the main ways we keep the assumptions current. See also our editorial policy and corrections policy.
